   The problem with being a big star is that you have to keep your blinds closed whenever yo do freaky stuff in your private life. In the case of someone trying to hide being gay that would mean no gay relationships for fear of being exposed. If a star was gay I’d say they should let the world know so they can at least enjoy their stardom.

   Correct me if I am wrong. I was under the impression that if you were gay you could not join the Military. I am also under the impression that the Green Beret is the elite of the armed forces and the Green Berets are trained to pass polygraph exams, in case of capture by the emeny.

   All passing a polygraph test means is that you believe what you say is true. If the guy is delusional then he’ll pass the test.

   Thank you for this great article in support of Clay Aiken, Arne. One correction — Clay answered this question outright on more than one occasion with a perfect clear and direct “No” and “No, I’m not.” First in Rolling Stones spread “From Boy to Man”, 2003; another live on PrimeTime with Diane Sawyer, autumn of 2003, and I think more — they keep asking! But as with Clint Eastwood, Tom Selleck, Richard Gere, etc., etc., he won’t be believed until he has kids of his own. (Marraige alone doesn’t do it, nor does adopting kids, as Tom Cruise can tell us; but these days, not being married to the woman you get pregnant is OK! Hello????)

   I agree with Arne…and I’ve always felt this way…privacy is something we all deserve. None of us would want that, of all things, taken away from us. “Clay is a decent guy with a lot of morals and values”…that’s enough for me! I don’t think the same can be said for Mr. Paullus.

   Your words of support reached our shores of beautiful Hawaii and how wonderful they were to read after all the lies we’ve been reading lately! Why someone would want to set out to destroy a decent man’s name, like Clay, for “money” is beyond me. All this did, was bring his fan base closer together and rally around him; we donated to his charity in large numbers that week to show him that we were behind him, we went on line and purchased his Measure of a Man CD to donate to different care homes ect… We expressed our love and support for him on various Clay Boards websites calling it “Circle Wagons for Clay”. Why, because we honor him, we see what he has done with his work with UNICEF, with his Bubel/Aiken Foundation, all that he stands for in his Christian faith, we know and believe in him. We too, Anne believe this Paullus guy is a liar and in it for the money. I would like to see him face Clay’s lawyers with these lies– he’s shut up fast!

   People are just blind if they think Clay Aiken is straight. It was reported he took one of his boyfriends on tour with him. He is gay- this guy has proof! What more do you want? If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it’s a duck!

    That guy has no proof, he says he does but nothing has been proven or tested. I can tell a tabloid that I found Kelly Clarkson’s panties in my car because she left them behind after a hot night in the back seat with me. This story from Paulus is no more true than mine. They say he passed a polygraph. What questions did they ask? Maybe he told the truth that he had waffles for breakfast. Try to engage your critical thinking, Diane, and spend less time listening to the quacks.

    Thanks very much for writing this article; I completely agree. I have been a Clay fan since the beginning of AI2. He is a nice guy, a good guy, and most importantly in this situation, he is a smart guy. Way too smart to do something like this. Clay’s career and the charitable work he does means too much to him to potentially jeopardize it in this manner. Thanks again for posting your viewpoint.

    I find it so heartwarming to read an article along with comments that are so supportive of a really nice guy, rather than some of the vicious and hate filled venom that is meant to hurt and cause harm. I recently read that Mr. Paulus was backtracking on his original story now, and wants to go on the Howard Stern show to clear his name. I believe that on the alledged date in question that he discovered that Clay Aiken was with friends in NYC, and although Clay is extremely talented in many ways, he has yet to come up with a way of being in two places at the same time!!! Too many other holes in his story as well! It is unfortunate that there are some who so hopeful that the gossips rags are true so as to cause harm to careers. Sometimes it backfires and creates overwhelming support for the victim of this type of viciousness!!! Thanks for the article.

    I am just sickened by the accusation. I believe in privacy and the actions in the Green Beret’s article do not fit anything that Clay has stood for and has showen in in actions during the last 3 years.. I do not believe for a minute that any of Clay’s fans believe a word of the trash that was written.

    Dear Arne, Your article in support of Clay is appreciated far more than you realize. I have met this young man in person and am proud to say that I have supported not only his career, but the many humanitarian and charitable works which he has wholeheartedly and lovingly encouraged and supported over the last three years. In my personal opinion, Clay Aiken is not only an extremely talented and versatile artist/performer/entertainer, who possesses a beautifully pure and powerful voice, great wit, charm and personality, but, more importantly, he is a young man of strong faith, purpose and integrity. For the past three years, we who have closely followed this young man have seen someone who has grown and matured and who truly “walks the walk”. He is genuine. I honestly believe that should we begin to compare the characters, motives, qualities, accomplishments and character of Clay Aiken and Mr. Paulus over the past few years, I firmly believe that Clay’s achievements, both personally and professionally, strong integrity and underlying purposes/reasons would speak for themselves, as would Mr. Paulus’. The scales would be obviously unbalanced, as I am afraid that Mr. Paulus’ character, attributes, accomplishments and motives would come no where near the goodness, selflessness, and sincerity of Clay Aiken. I am a very intuitive person and there is no doubt in my mind who the deceitful person is in this scenario, and it definitely is not Clay Aiken. Thank you, again for your article of strong support for this fine young man. Dianne

    Thank you for supporting this wonderful young man. Clay has shown by his actions over the last 3 years that he is not a person who takes advantage of anyone in any way especially sexually. He could have a different sex partner every night of the week if he chose to. But he is a Christian young man and I believe he is pure and believes in love and marriage first.Anyone can say anything about anyone else but does that make it true? Even if Clay did have a one night stand ( which I don’t believe he would) would it really be with someone the likes of Paullus!? I find that ridiculous!!!!! When people can’t find anything bad to say about people they make things up. Mr. Paullus find another target because true Clay Aiken fans know you are full of it!!!!! WE LOVE YOU CLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I think that this guy needs to get over himself. I personally believe that Clay is straight. I am not only saying this because I am a fan or anything, but because if you guys watch the things that he does then you can so tell he is straight. Like on the Tyra Banks Show, HE was the one that suggested theey kiss, not Tyra…On the Tv Guide Channel close-up thing, HE answered the question directly with “…There are people out there that sleep with everyone just to let people know that hey are straight males…and if I’m not gonna do that, which I don’t, then people are going to make assumptions…well their assumptions are wrong.” He’s also talked about it in numerous interviews and answered with NO! and people still ask. Well, finally he got tired of it and started taking defense, amd I am proud of him for that, because really it doesn’t matter to anyone who he is having sex with, male or female, WHO CARES IF HE IS GAY OR STRAIGHT??!! NO ONE!! If he is, big whoop, he sleeps with men, who cares. I certanley don’t because that is personally none of my business, nor is it any of the tabloids or reporters or anyone except Clay and whoever is laying next to him in bed. Clay knows the truth and hopefully if you can see, you know the truth and that is all that matters. People are going to believe what they want, no matter what he says.

    I think Clay is a good person first and foremost. I just discovered him (never watched AI) and what a voice. I feel bad for him because that is all you hear about that he is gay. Clay unfortunately does not help the situation. He has never been known to have a relationship with a woman. I can see that in the past he looked like a nerd and a geek and might have had problems dating, but that’s not the case any more. He is 29 and it’s time for him to find a nice girlfriend. I’m sure people will still talk, but as long as he doesn’t get out on the town in public with women (not just friends) the rumors will continue.
