The Donald – Blaming Martha?

RealityTVFan + October 24th, 2005 + 2 replies

According to ABC news, Mr. Trump is laying some of the responsibility for his shows ratings decline on that ‘other’ apprentice show……

“The numbers are still good,” Trump told ABC’s David Blaustein. “I think there was confusion between Martha’s “Apprentice” and mine. Mine continues to do well, and as you know, the other one has struggled severely.”

Stewart’s “Apprentice” premiered four weeks ago, drawing a disappointing 7.1 million primetime viewers, running a distant second to ABC’s “Lost” in the Wednesday time slot. The show fell to 6.22 million in its second outing.

“I think it [Stewart’s show] probably hurt mine and I sort of predicted that it would, because there was a lot of confusion in the world,” Trump said.

Yeah, and I am confused about how she got that terrible show in the first place! Have you seen it? Garbage……at least Donalds show is still entertaining. Here’s the deal (attn: Donald)…people get tired of shows, we have a short attention span! If you think ratings went down for Apprentice 4…just wait til Apprentice 5. I predict that the ratings will go down even more while people wait for the next errr….good show to come along.

I think Martha’s Apprentice is acceptable, but 2nd to the Donald’s. On my Tivo I watch Donald’s first and let Martha’s stack up. No question – the original Apprentice is better and still very good compared to today’s crop of reality tv shows.

    Issue #2 – let’s put this all in perspective…

Lost on ABC is a huge hit tv show. It’s a big winner. In my opinion I’d rather watch lost than either Apprentice (if push came to shove). The headlines for Lost read something like ‘Lost’ finds big ratings etc.

This is what CNN said about the debut:

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) — Fresh off its upset Emmy win for best drama Sunday, “Lost” went off the chart Wednesday with eye-popping, series-high ratings delivered by its sophomore-season debut:

“Lost” and its 8 p.m. recap special, “Destination: Lost,” sucked up so much of the available audience that ABC’s rivals had a hard time getting any traction on the night. NBC in particular suffered through weak turnouts for the 8 p.m. bow of “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart” and 9 p.m.’s “E-Ring.”

So, in all fairness to the Apprentice – what brand new show would have the potential to beat “Lost”???

Am I making excuses for Martha… kinda… it’s not a bad show in my opinion and is still a quality Mark Burnett show… yes, it does steal a bit too much from the original Apprentice and yes it does NOT have Donald… but still, compare it to other weak reality tv shows like this season’s Amazing Race Family and I say it really aint all that bad…
