Amazing Race Family 2 Hours Too Long because dem der families get a bit annoying…
OK, the jury is still out as to whether Amazing Race Family Edition has what it takes to keep in the Tivo Season Pass rotation… I’ll reserve judgement for 2 more episodes to see if it grows on me and I can see past the hokey family antics.
The Black Family got booted… boo hoo…
I do have to say that in seasons past I have been a fan of the show (go back 2 or 3 seasons) and I always enjoyed the show, but never as much as Survivor or Apprentice.
In my opinion the success of this show all hinges on whether they cast a good group of competitors. From what I can tell this season has a bummer crop. I could be wrong but they just don’t seem to be interesting. And the feuding is times 4 as they get on each others nerves and mine too.
That said there are good points to the show and I really do enjoy seeing them compete at that frantic pace. It brings out the best and the worst in people.
In episode #1 the Black Family got booted. And it’s a good thing because they were doomed to fail with those 2 no good goody good weak chillen’ they be carrying around with them. As nice as the family seemed their optimism and seeing good blinded them to the fact that the 2 kids were pussies and if not given a few whacks now and then to get them motivated they”ll end up as cheerleaders instead of tight ends. Hey, nothing wrong with a cheerleader but watching those 2 kids struggle made the Black Family the one to get booted and they did.
Hate to be such an old cranky fart, but damn those families be gettin’ on my nerves… How about a few families of tight teen hardbodies… it seems to me that this season is waterded down big time in the hopes of some network executive saying “I told you this would widen our demographics, so give me a promotion…”
I say, they dumbed it down too much. Unless they send the familes to some odd places where they are challenged with reality, like hookers in Amsterdamn or Bar Girls in Thailand, I say this could be nothing more than a sappy history book lesson in how George crossed the river.
OK, enough whining. If I sound bitter it is because one of my fave reality tv shows has lost it’s luster. I was a big fan of Amazing Race and I want to like it. Let’s hope episode 2 brings on some fun times.
