Season 2 Rock Star: Supernova on CBS

M J + July 6th, 2006 + one reply

Rock Star: Supernova premiered last night and I must say I was pleasantly suprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Leading up to this season’s opener I found no compelling reason to tune in and check it out. The promos were blah and to be honest they pimped “rocker Tommy Lee” but I felt like “who cares?”

brooke and dave

At least last season I knew and respected the band INXS and they added to the charm of the show.

But after Tivo’ing Rock Star: Supernova last night and starting to watch it I was suprised again and again.

First suprise was that Brooke Burke was back! You’d think she’d get some play in the promos, but nnooo!

Second suprise was that Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro was back. Good! I actually liked him last season!

And then after the first aspiring rocks star got up and sang I saw that Paul and the best house band was back! Well, they never officially announced it (disrespect man) but the band had familiar faces and they sounded excellent.

So, after a few contestants sang their songs I must admt I was roped in again and enjoyed the season premiere of Rock Star: Supernova!

Brian Heidik – Animal Lover

RealityTVFan + July 6th, 2006 + 3 replies

This Guy is a Real Loser

Former Survivor: Thailand winner Brian Heidik was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with battery and cruelty to animals after he shot a puppy with a bow and arrow.

Think we are making this up?? Nope…..

Local police were alerted to the early morning incident by Charmaine Heidik, Heidik’s wife with (although they are separated) whom he and the couple’s 5-year-old son are still living. “At about 3AM, his wife called to report that he was outside and that he had shot a puppy that was on his property with an arrow and planned to shoot another one,” Douglas County Chief Deputy Stan Copeland told The Associated Press.

The puppy, a 3-4 month old tan-and-black shepherd-hound mix, was reportedly shot below the rib cage but not seriously injured.

Ok, what kind of idiot do you have to be to shoot a puppy? C’mon ladies – I know you want to comment on this guy! According to his – uhh wife – he had been out drinking with buddies before arriving home and deciding that it would be a good idea to get out his bow and arrow. Robin Hood he ain’t!!

To make matters worse, Charmaine apparently reported to the police that he had hit her approx 10 days earlier. The couple has had a history of spousal abuse reports going back to 2002.

All we can say is maybe he was hungry and thought he was back on Survivor ‘foraging’ for food….or maybe he is just a big fat loser!! You make the call……

Who do you want IN CBS TV’s Big Brother 7 All Stars?

M J + June 22nd, 2006 + 11 replies

Did you see the CBS Big Brother 7 All Stars tease show last night where they presented 20 choices for us to vote on???

Apparently they want us to go to CBS.COM to do the voting

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/bigbrother7/

WHO DO YOU WANT TO SEE on Big Brother 7 ALL-STARS???

I just went there and voted for Janelle!

I like her spirit (and her smile!)

So – as I watched last night I kept wondering – how will they do this… I believe I heard them say 6 would be by voting – so that means they will decide amongst themselves on the remaining 6 “all stars”???

So much for “America’s choice”.

Since I am a relative newbie to the Big Brother phenom I can’t really judge those early season “all star” choices… I only started watching Big Brother 5 and 6 and recently watched the DVD Big Brother 3 (I love you Marcellas!)

WHO DESERVES to be in???

These are the ALL-STARS and my feelings about them…

Alison – who??? Nice smile.

Bunky – uh, no thanks. Unless he bunks with Marcellas.

Dana – definitely a good prospect! She’ll stir the pot!

Summer with Big Brother 7: All-Stars

M J + June 11th, 2006 + 8 replies

Hey! It must be Summer! Or almost! Big Brother is coming back and this time with familiar faces!

Janelle

Wow! This could be fun, but since I haven’t seen ALL of the Big Brother seasons I may not be on top of who is who!

On June 21st at 8 PM on CBS hostess Julie Chen will unveil the 20 candidates for an All-Star Summer. Viewers will decide which former Houseguests will compete in BIG BROTHER 7: ALL-STARS.

I don’t know about you but I will definitely vote for the most popular, most controversial and biggest ego’d hamster Marcellas! If they let me! Marcellas stirs up the pot and makes watching Big Brother so much fun! And handsome and humorous Howie! He is so much fun! Oh and there must be some babes from season’s past I’d like to see more of (in the biblical sense!) Janelle! Maybe we’ll be treated to her beautiful smile and well balanced personality! This will be fun!

Well! Fun times are ahead! What would Summer be like without Big Brother???

Mark down the date for the BIG BROTHER 7: ALL-STARS season premiere, Thursday, July 6 at 8PM!

It’s Over! Apprentice Finale gives Sean the Crown.

M J + June 11th, 2006 + no replies

It’s Over! In the Apprentice Finale Mr. Trump gives Sean the Crown over Lee who was FIRED. I must say this was one of the more entertaining Apprentice Finales in recent memory.

For the most part I’ve written off most reality finale shows beacuse they are too predictable and often don’t have the flavor of the larger cast of folks that make these shows work in the first place.
Well, this Apprentice finale was an exception as we were able to enjoy seeing Sean and Lee pick teams and bring back some of the more entertaining and appealing ones.

While Sean did pick a logical dream team, Lee on the other hand picked a more “entertaining” yet poor choice of workers.

Lemmy or Lenny???

While I am glad he picked Lenny for gag appeal his team in general was what killed him.

You had to know when the show kept reminding us of how bad a pick that Pepe was by asking “who is Pepe?” over and over.

CBS to Win the Current Season in Viewers and Adults 25-54,

CBS announced today the addition of four new series to its 2006-2007 primetime line-up, enhancing a line-up that will return 18 shows from last year’s schedule, including six from last season’s freshman class. The line-up, which includes three new dramas and one new comedy, was unveiled this morning by CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler.

The four new shows feature a roster of award-winning actors and executive producers and a unique mix of concepts and genres. The freshman series include a young and sexy ensemble comedy, THE CLASS, from “Friends” co-creator David Crane; SMITH, a high octane heist thriller from “ER’s” John Wells starring Ray Liotta and Virginia Madsen; the apocalyptic drama JERICHO, from the producer of “National Treasure,” Jon Turteltaub, starring Skeet Ulrich (“Scream”); and SHARK, a glossy, high-stakes courtroom drama from Brian Grazer (“The DaVinci Code,” “A Beautiful Mind”), starring James Woods.

Those shows will join a line-up that features more time period winning series and more top 20 hits than any other network as well as a leadership position in nearly every program genre: CBS will return television’s Number One drama, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION; the Number One returning comedy, TWO AND A HALF MEN; the Number One and Number Two freshman dramas, THE UNIT and CRIMINAL MINDS; the Number One new comedy, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE; the Number One news magazine, 60 MINUTES; and the premiere reality series SURVIVOR and the three-time Emmy Award-winning THE AMAZING RACE.

Comment – “what a great returning lineup!”

In an impressive achievement, CBS is returning six of its freshman series, which strengthened four nights of the schedule, for their sophomore seasons, including HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, CRIMINAL MINDS, GHOST WHISPERER and CLOSE TO HOME as well as THE UNIT and OLD CHRISTINE. They are part of the overall 18 series that return to the CBS primetime schedule, along with TWO AND A HALF MEN, CSI: MIAMI, NCIS, CSI: NY, SURVIVOR, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, NUMB3RS, THE AMAZING RACE, COLD CASE, WITHOUT A TRACE as well as 60 MINUTES, 48 HOURS: MYSTERY and CRIMETIME SATURDAY.

As a result, CBS will win the 2005-2006 season in viewers and adults 25-54, continuing its multi-year winning streak.

The new 2006-2007 schedule:

On Mondays, CBS adds one new series to its winning comedy line-up. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, a show that captures a young and loyal audience, moves to 8:00 PM, followed by the new ensemble comedy THE CLASS at 8:30 PM, forming a fresh, sophisticated young adult comedy block. At 9:00 PM, CBS returns television’s Number One comedy TWO AND A HALF MEN, followed by the Number One new comedy THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE at 9:30 PM. CSI: MIAMI, the night’s Number One show, caps the line-up at 10:00 PM.

Apprentice Nears the End

M J + May 11th, 2006 + no replies

Michael’s fired… OK…

It’s been a great season for the Apprentice and I have enjoyed watching it but I must say that as the contestants go bye bye and fewer characters remain in the show, the less interesting it is to watch.

I also look back at previous seasons and that is how I felt about the FINALES… THEY WEREN’T THE best SHOWS of the season… they were the worst!

Sorry, but unless you are rooting for one of the finalists it isn’t as fun to watch as when the multiple personalities were bouncing off each other.

Like this year the Russki guy and that fat crazy guy added interest and excitement.

Now we are down to a few and it just isn’t that exciting anymore.

So who is left? Tammy, Roxanne, Sean, Lee and Allie.

Tammy – I will say that Tammy even at age 33 is my ultimate deam girl… because of her brains of course… and her good looks don’t hurt! She’s got the best personality too!

I’m rooting for her.

Sean – he’s ok but his accent is kinda annoying sometimes and he seems to do the wrong things politically sometimes.

Lee – he doesn’t strike me as being a Trump employee but I could be wrong. He is sharp at times.

Allie – I liked her more at the beginning of the season. She is cute but she is so bratty sometimes…

Roxanne – I think she’s the next to go.

So, who is going to make it to the final two???

Classless and Clueless and Disgusting! Brent Buckman Fired- The Apprentice-03-20-06

Just as you thought that, the Donald and his right hand eyes and ears were on a direct course of action and accountability, highlighting the facts of true reasons to candidate’s demise. We get a show like last night, that was full of so much crock, that it would take the sewage department at least a year to get it all cleared up.

Last night’s apprentice was the last night for Brent Buckman, who was fired by the Donald. Now ordinarily that is part of the show, but for the life of me, I cannot see the reason that he was fired! For being difficult????? when was that exactly??? Synergy who should be renamed Clueless, had successfully put Brent on ice ! They gave him no tasks to do, but menial little tasks that did not even exist (i.e. in charge of the clothes department). Brent was not responsible for the loss, Andrea played the greatest part in the loss, she claimed this was her department of knowledge and expertise. With that self-indulgent advertisement of her self, then Synergy should have won easily. Instead they lost by a mile, the banner was gaudy, uninteresting and wordy! You would think with all the bragging we saw Andrea do , that she would of caught that and changed it with her so called superior authority and know how! The fact is she missed it and so did the rest of the genius’s ( not) on the team! As a matter of fact the rest of the team did not like the banner when they sent it over but did NOT have the courage to say so. This grouped with Tammy the project manager’ s main focus of a timeline, got them the loss.

The Extrasensory Perception of Icon Great Stevie Wonder- American Idol 3-14-06

Image hosting by Photobucket

This Article is Written and Owned by: Arne

Stevie Wonder’s appearance on American Idol is a night to remember just on that alone. This Icon great very presence allows the competitor a glimpse at REAL SUCCESS. Stevie Wonder is one of the people I refer to when they meet their obstacles in life and come through it shining and victorious. Some of the top 12 were joyful with emotions and tears when Stevie walked in the room. Some of them reminisced on favourite songs of the Icon Great. I remembered in my album collection (not CD) that I still have a classic first Stevie Wonder Album when he was 12 years old. Called Little Stevie Wonder the 12-Year-Old Genius. This album included Fingertips, however, my favourite song on that Album is “Hallelujah I love her so“. Stevie Wonder has extrasensory perception. Whenever a person is missing one sense, they make up for it with other senses. Stevie Wonder has vision and he is intuitive. He showed us this in his remarks about the competitors. It was a night that Ryan continued on in fashion and a night that I agreed with Simon on some counts.( choke, gasp) It was also a night that Chris Daughtry didn’t raise the bar!

The show opens and American Idol host dapper Ryan Seacrest continued to be dramatic in a sombre voice he extends, to make it to the top twelve is an honour, to win is a dream. Then he exclaims in a louder more excited voice, “you can make it happen” as he points at us! This is a completely new level of pressure. This is American Idol! This is where it gets tough. We have a bigger stage, a thousand lights, a bigger band and a killer sound system. It is all about people like you who watch the top twelve. He then goes to the top twelve’s journey and intro’s them one by one. The top twelve all look good, nice hairdos for the exception of Chris who has had no choice but to stay with the same hairdo!. Ryan Intro’s the Judges and makes small talk with Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest by getting their viewpoints The top twelve was obviously nervous because now it is the real deal, It is do or die time!

Would you date Ivanka Trump?

Would you date Ivanka Trump?

Ivanka Trump

I’d date her! And apparently so would Dad, the Donald himself who recently was quoted as saying he’d date her.

I can see why because she is quite charming on the new season of The Apprentice.

And while we are on the subject of “beauty” – how about the latest crop of Apprentice wanna-bes! A good looking group to say the least!

A few are even stunners, but I’ll leave commenting on that for anther post.

Apprentice seems to be better this season and is off to a good start!

Not a Starry Night Lacklustre performances-American Idol Guys Recap:03-09-06

Image hosting by Photobucket

This Article is written and owned by: Arne

Compared to last week the guys, did not burn it up like last week, most of them did not give us a good performance on a night they should of battled it out. Ryan comes out and he looked more improved then on girl’s night. He goes through his usual intros of the Guys, Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest (Judges). Ryan did get a star welcome from the Audience! The Guys were supposed to be fired up! If you ask me the performances were only burning the remnants of last weeks cinders!!! The surprise of the night was Will Maker’s performance that may pull an upset on where the sixth spot should go.

First up was Gedeon McKinney who sang for us Icon Great James Brown’s “When a man loves a women”. Gedeon gave an excellent, excellent performance. Randy said, it was aight, and that Gedeon was definitely an old soul in the group. Paula said he was unique and he knew exactly how to highlight his vocals. Simon thought it was good, a bit cabaret, he liked Gedeon, he was interesting.

Second up was Chris Daughtry who sang for us Seeth’s “Broken”, it was a lacklustre performance, it was dull and bland. Randy says one more time he is a fan, and he loved people who knew who they were. Another good performance. Rock on Baby. Chris\t may be ousted tonight with that performance. Paula said, she could see him on the Radio and he was fantastic. Simon wasn’t as impressed, it was a bit indulgent, boring and that Chris had a long way to go.

Lisa Tucker underrated by Judges: American Idol Girls Recap.-3-08-06

Image hosting by Photobucket

This Article is Written and owned by: Arne

The show opens and Ryan warns its crunch time. Ryan introduces the girls, the judges . Ryan decided on trying out that disastrous combination of nice suit jacket with a pair of dowdy jeans. It was a night that we saw the judges consistently and shamefully underrate Lisa Tucker. The age factor seems to get in the way of Simon (dumbest) and now Randy Jackson (Dumber) joined Simon’s bandwagon.

Paris Bennett opens the show with Gloria Estefan’s “Conga”, I thought Paris did well, it was not her best. Randy said, it was not his favourite song choice for her, he wanted her to challenge herself, he was entertained it was ok. Paula said, it was a difficult song to sing, she was surprised, she is a talented singer. Simon’s critique oozed with the age factor and liability he needs to demonstrate each week. He wanted her to sing a younger song. It was vocally ok, people love her, see her next week. ( I would like Simon to give us a list of what a younger song is) I didn’t know when artists sang that there were age groups attached to their albums on who should listen to them!!!!!

Next up was the underrated Lisa Tucker, who sang Tiffany Taylor’s “Where I Stand”. As usual, Lisa did an excellent outstanding job. Lisa can blow, she brings it every performance and Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest seem to deny her the credit she deserves. Lisa has been consistent every performance and the Judges specifically Simon has been consistent in denying her the correct credit.
( it’s to old for them.) Randy parroted, liked the song! It was older for me!( yeah that makes so much sense, really clears it up doesn’t it). Paula offered, that Lisa was a seasoned performer, she has poise, amazing, would like to see her sing a song we could get into.( where has Paula been, Lisa has allowed us to get into her performances every week), clearly Paula was to busy smiling at the Dawg Pound!) Simon the Crone, repeated his age liability!!!! Agreed with Randy and then made the stupid comment that it sounded like Lisa’s mum is picking the song. ( What a strange critique coming from a man that is older then Lisa’s Mum!!!!!!!!). The Judges have consistently taken away from Lisa’s excellent performances each week. They allow the age liability to get into the way of giving Lisa proper critique and proper credit!!!

Tough Competition: Jose Sway Fire and Desire Penala Gone: American Idol Recap- 03-05-06

Image hosting by Photobucket

This Article is written and owned by: Arne

On Thursday night, much to my dismay Jose Sway Penala was ousted from the competition. As predicted, so were Brenna Gethers, Heather Cox and David Radford!

The surprise for me was Sway, who I thought should have made the top twelve. However, upon reflection of how America is voting, it seems to me that the American Idol voters are getting tough!!!!! This year’s competition is very strong and in fact is going to be a tough competition. This week the guys owned the competition and in fact ran away with it.The talent for both the girls and guys is so strong and on equal level, that each competitor will have to bring it each week and give over 200 percent! Simply, American idol voters are ousting the competitors that have had a bad night, or that their talent is not in league with the rest of the competitors. The same people that were eliminated, (for the exception of one) may of made the final twelve in previous competitions. Not this year! American Idol is experiencing more viewers, which is resulting in more voters. As well as a diverse viewing audience in terms of age!!! It is not just teenagers watching this show! It is families; it is professional people, adults beyond the perceived teen target audience that American Idol anticipates, adult ages ranging from 30 into retirement ages.

Just you Bring it- The Guys Owned the competition this week: American Idol 03-01-06

Image hosting by Photobucket

This Article is written and owned by: Arne

The guys brought it tonight, they ran the gauntlet! Every male competitor tonight gave it his all. There were some better then others, but in a whole, the guys owned the competition this week! They not only sung well, they had the viewer’s excited and restored enthusiasm to the show! It will be hard to pick out of the guys who will win the six spots for the final round! It was an astounding night, not only did the guys bring it, Ryan and the Judges brought it home for us tonight! Excellent singing and humorous spirited jousting. With the way the guys performed tonight, the girls were put on notice! The guys put the heat on the girls tonight to bring it!!!

The show opens and out swaggers Ryan Seacrest. Tonight Ryan had something to swagger about. His attire made him look polished, dapper, spiffy and debonair. Ryan’s 3-piece attire was a pleasant surprise and a vast improvement. I have to give him his due, and when he falters, I verbally slap him around!

As usual Ryan could not resist being dramatic! He announces to us, Last night the girls sang, but he asks what will happen tonight? Ryan reinforces his drama by asking, what will happen with your votes? From there he introduces the judges; Paula is sitting next to Simon again. While Ryan was introducing the Judges, I noted that Simon was “gaping” at Paula’s femininity! Paula looked good tonight and Simon could not help but notice, gape, stare!!!! Ryan makes some light jest of Simon, when he said that his favourite three expressions are ghastly, horrible, nightmare.
