It must be summer because CBS is dropping a brand new season of Big Brother on us!
Big Brother 17 started Wednesday and so far has had 2 episodes.
The new cast seems to be pretty good. Diverse as expected and interesting because in addition to the token gay guy there is a lesbian and also “the first transgender contestant on Big Brother”.
Curious to see how to he cast will work out but on first glance it seems fine.
Have fun this summer watching Big Brother on CBS!
It’s nice that Big Brother on CBS is finally broadcast in HD High Definition.
It seems like I have been nagging about it publicly for many years. It was the last holdout for HD on Prime time tv.
Now that we have HD we don’t have much to complain about!
Big Brother is as fun as ever!
Here is looking forward to a lot of fun on BB16 this summer!
I’m pissed! I can’t seem to find any info on the missing seasons of Survivor on DVD. From what I can tell two of theones I have NOT SEEN – #3 and #4 are not on DVD yet. Africa (2001) · Marquesas (2002)
ThaT SUCKS! I am not sure why they di dnot releas ethem yet – it’s 2010 and surely people would buy them. I did not start watching Survivor on CBS until the season of Survivor Thailand. So I would love to catch up a and see the ones I have missed!
The same thing is happening with CBS Big Brother. They too do not have all the shows on DVD yet.
All the RECENT ones go to dvd almost instantly – so why not cash in on the back catalog too???
AmI the only sourpuss out there???
It’s Fall and just a few months since Big Brother 8 wrapped up and dropped the big prize on Evil Dick and the runner up Danielle, and it still feels like something is missing.
We really need a winter version of Big Brother. One run per year simply is not enough.
Since the producers and CBS are not willing to satisfy that need, much less even give us past seasons on DVD’s (what’s up with that by the way???) we need to take matters into our own hands. Read the rest of this entry
Showtime’s Showtoo Channel is Watching Big Brother 8 After Dark
If you’re a CBS TV’s Big Brother 8 fan and already get Showtime and it’s sister premium channels such as Showtime Too (two?) you can be enjoying a behind the scenes look at the BB8 house guests and their scheming.
UNCENSORED and un-edited Big Brother Footage!
As I reported in TV Robot’s CBS TV Big Brother 8 section, the all new Big Brother After Dark runs three hours per night LIVE on Showtime Two. You’ll see the Big Brother 8 house as you’ve never seen it before as Showtime gives us 3 hours live per night 7 days a week to spy on what is really happening in the Big Brother 8 house.
3 hours per night – 21 hours of Big Brother 8 footage per week!
The live as it happens footage is broadcast unedited. The only thing close to editing is that they will jump through different cameras positioned in various parts of the house, so you do not see all the action – just what they choose to show live. What I have seen is very good and revealing. The quality is also unexpectedly high since their is no editing or sweetening of footage.
Since I have Tivo I have loaded up and have all the previous nights recorded and waiting for me. So far I have watched 4 nights of footage (12 hours) and still have 9 episodes taped (27 hours).
Tivo can only hold so much! Seven 3 hour episodes per week takes up a lot of hard disk space!
Now that may seem like a lot of LIVE Big Brother to watch, but in actuality you can fast forward through a huge amount of the stuff. In fact, if you have favorite houseguests you may only want to search for footage that includes them. Or if you really hate someone you may want to skip footage they’re in.
Me, personally I have found that I can watch a 3 hour episode in around 1 hour if I fast forward liberally. Last night for example I watched over 6 hours of Live Big Brother After Dark footage in less than 2 hours.
Now there is a downside to having all this raw unedited footage… the activities you see “off the main show” can impact the experience you have watching the real Big Brother 8 as broadcast on CBS. Read the rest of this entry
Hey! It must be Summer again! Big Brother 8 is here and it rocks!
So far – so good! I was abit worried at the new twists and turns but it seems to be working!
One noticeable change this year is Big Brother After Dark, on Showtime 2.
It airs from 9 to 12 PM PST and shows the housegouests in raw unedited (supposedly live) footage.
I turned it on after Tivo recoirded a few of those and turned it off real quick. It seemed like it was AHEAD of the episode I saw and I did not want to ruin it! I guess I can peek again after I have a few episodes under my belt!
I’m looking forward to a fun Summer with Biog Brother 8!

New web site has the low down on Big Brother 7 All Stars
We may as well start calling Big Brother 7 Big Brother Extreme.
What happened to Janelle the Cocktail Waitress???
Has her mind been brainwashed by the clever Will???
Didn’t she have some kind of a pact with the BB6’ers in her alliance???
Hmmmm… then she sure went against it. Even Howie must be doubting her… Janelle manipulated him into helping her with the last veto competition…
Her shifty behavior has turned me against her.
I didn’t care whether Diane came or went but it’s getting ridiculous that the all stars haven’t gotten rid of Will and Boogie.
what exactly is a “floater” anyways and when did that become a strategy… oh – that must be an “all-star strategy”???
I agree with Marcellas who has dumped that bitch Janelle! Or at least he is conspiring to behind the scenes.
Now, without getting into what has happened I’ll just say that last week we were left with the all stars fighting for the Head of Household position.
They were tangled in a hokey web and just had some gunk spewed over them.
I have changed who I am rooting for and actually hope that James wins HOH.
He’ll be brave and will put up Dr. will and Janelle.
That would be some great TV!
Sorry Janelle. You lost my confidence in you.
Big Brother 7 All Stars: Jase gets evicted – but still may return as America’s Choice!
Maybe it’s me, but it sure seems like the Big Brother 7 All Stars contestants are playing this game like pansies!
I don’t get it… Part of the reason is that the BB6 alliance has been winning head of household and have been nominating “floaters” for some reason…
I don’t get the logic and can’t for the life of me figure out why “floaters” would have a higher priority for getting evicted than say a strong player.
In particlular I have been waiting weeek after week for them to put up both Boogie and Will..

Big Brother may not be as popular as Survivor or The Apprentice (both shows I like) but it may be even more fun to watch.
The Summer of 2005 has passed and so has Big Brother 6 leaving behind Janelle, the shrewd and pretty waitress, for Ivette and Maggie who battled it out in the Finale.

Boy, I really have mixed feelings about this seasons Big Brother 7: All-Stars. On the one hand I am totally into it and have enjoyed the past 3 episodes. On the other hand the show is going in a direction that isn’t exactly my idea of fun to watch. In fact sometimes it even hurts to watch.
Before I get into that, let’s backtrack a bit and catch up on this season of Big Brother 7 All Stars!
7-6-06 Big Brother 7 All Stars Season Opener – Episode 1 where we discovered who was on the show. Other than missing Lisa (my dream girl) I can’t say I am at all disappointed with the lineup. They added an extra 2 slots which is nice. Ironically my buddy Marcellas did not make the “most popular” as voted by America. It looked like he was going to lose his lunch when he realized he could no longer say he was the most popular contestant in Big Brother history.
By the way Marcellas, I have enjoyed watching you this year so far and have come to appreciate your style and demeanor. Either that or you have grown up and more interesting. Any way you look at it I would like to make peace with you brother! Good luck to ya Marcellas!
Jase and Janelle are cohos – CoHOHs – co-head-of-households. Janelle and Jase nominated Allison and Danielle. I was rooting for Danielle to get evicted as Allison seemed charming and pretty and oh, a bitch! She could be fun to watch as she seems to talk out loud. Danielle on the other hand seems more quiet and guarded.
7-11-06 Big Brother 7 All Stars Episode 2 – With the power of Veto up for grabs, one of my fave contestants Janelle won the power of Veto. They ended up leaving Danielle and Allison as the choices for eviction.
7-13-06 Big Brother 7 All Stars Episode 3 – it caught me off guard but it was sexy bitch Allison who ended up getting evicted. Too bad. She was growing on me. Smart, sassy and mean! She was fun! I would have much preferred Danielle to get the axe. Funny but Danielle really was shaken up as she expected that she’d get the boot. Her face was reminiscent of a deer caught in the headlights of a semi. In fact I think she may have been in shock. Good! She had never before been nominated and she needed to eat a little crow. Her ego is just too big for her head.
I the Head of Household Competition, more like a true false spelling bee than a competition by the way, we saw host Julie Chen blow it and mistakenly crown Nokomis as Head of Household. Someone must have been pinching Julie because after a delay she finally corrected herself and proclaimed Kaysar the winner.
And this is where it starts to get disappointing for me. The season 6 Big Brother people are all jumping for joy hugging and kissing Kaysar. Despite having strength the Season Six Alliance just laid all their cards on the table. Oh well.
7-16-06 Big Brother 7 All Stars Episode 4 Kaysar is the Head of Household and from the get go I must admit something made me mistrust him. I felt uneasy about his taking the throne.
Having the luxury of seeing things that Kaysar hasn’t it is possible he isn’t entirely in the know, but it is so apparent on TV that pale Dr. Will and Mike Boogie (Chilltown???) would love nothing more than to pull a Guantanamo Bay on Kaysar.

Did you see the CBS Big Brother 7 All Stars tease show last night where they presented 20 choices for us to vote on???
Apparently they want us to go to CBS.COM to do the voting
WHO DO YOU WANT TO SEE on Big Brother 7 ALL-STARS???
I just went there and voted for Janelle!
I like her spirit (and her smile!)
So – as I watched last night I kept wondering – how will they do this… I believe I heard them say 6 would be by voting – so that means they will decide amongst themselves on the remaining 6 “all stars”???
So much for “America’s choice”.
Since I am a relative newbie to the Big Brother phenom I can’t really judge those early season “all star” choices… I only started watching Big Brother 5 and 6 and recently watched the DVD Big Brother 3 (I love you Marcellas!)
WHO DESERVES to be in???
These are the ALL-STARS and my feelings about them…
Alison – who??? Nice smile.
Bunky – uh, no thanks. Unless he bunks with Marcellas.
Dana – definitely a good prospect! She’ll stir the pot!

Hey! It must be Summer! Or almost! Big Brother is coming back and this time with familiar faces!
Wow! This could be fun, but since I haven’t seen ALL of the Big Brother seasons I may not be on top of who is who!
On June 21st at 8 PM on CBS hostess Julie Chen will unveil the 20 candidates for an All-Star Summer. Viewers will decide which former Houseguests will compete in BIG BROTHER 7: ALL-STARS.
I don’t know about you but I will definitely vote for the most popular, most controversial and biggest ego’d hamster Marcellas! If they let me! Marcellas stirs up the pot and makes watching Big Brother so much fun! And handsome and humorous Howie! He is so much fun! Oh and there must be some babes from season’s past I’d like to see more of (in the biblical sense!) Janelle! Maybe we’ll be treated to her beautiful smile and well balanced personality! This will be fun!
Well! Fun times are ahead! What would Summer be like without Big Brother???
Mark down the date for the BIG BROTHER 7: ALL-STARS season premiere, Thursday, July 6 at 8PM!

CBS announced today the addition of four new series to its 2006-2007 primetime line-up, enhancing a line-up that will return 18 shows from last year’s schedule, including six from last season’s freshman class. The line-up, which includes three new dramas and one new comedy, was unveiled this morning by CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler.
The four new shows feature a roster of award-winning actors and executive producers and a unique mix of concepts and genres. The freshman series include a young and sexy ensemble comedy, THE CLASS, from “Friends” co-creator David Crane; SMITH, a high octane heist thriller from “ER’s” John Wells starring Ray Liotta and Virginia Madsen; the apocalyptic drama JERICHO, from the producer of “National Treasure,” Jon Turteltaub, starring Skeet Ulrich (“Scream”); and SHARK, a glossy, high-stakes courtroom drama from Brian Grazer (“The DaVinci Code,” “A Beautiful Mind”), starring James Woods.
Those shows will join a line-up that features more time period winning series and more top 20 hits than any other network as well as a leadership position in nearly every program genre: CBS will return television’s Number One drama, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION; the Number One returning comedy, TWO AND A HALF MEN; the Number One and Number Two freshman dramas, THE UNIT and CRIMINAL MINDS; the Number One new comedy, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE; the Number One news magazine, 60 MINUTES; and the premiere reality series SURVIVOR and the three-time Emmy Award-winning THE AMAZING RACE.
Comment – “what a great returning lineup!”
In an impressive achievement, CBS is returning six of its freshman series, which strengthened four nights of the schedule, for their sophomore seasons, including HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, CRIMINAL MINDS, GHOST WHISPERER and CLOSE TO HOME as well as THE UNIT and OLD CHRISTINE. They are part of the overall 18 series that return to the CBS primetime schedule, along with TWO AND A HALF MEN, CSI: MIAMI, NCIS, CSI: NY, SURVIVOR, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, NUMB3RS, THE AMAZING RACE, COLD CASE, WITHOUT A TRACE as well as 60 MINUTES, 48 HOURS: MYSTERY and CRIMETIME SATURDAY.
As a result, CBS will win the 2005-2006 season in viewers and adults 25-54, continuing its multi-year winning streak.
The new 2006-2007 schedule:
On Mondays, CBS adds one new series to its winning comedy line-up. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, a show that captures a young and loyal audience, moves to 8:00 PM, followed by the new ensemble comedy THE CLASS at 8:30 PM, forming a fresh, sophisticated young adult comedy block. At 9:00 PM, CBS returns television’s Number One comedy TWO AND A HALF MEN, followed by the Number One new comedy THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE at 9:30 PM. CSI: MIAMI, the night’s Number One show, caps the line-up at 10:00 PM.
